Abstract

This study investigates linguistic strategies in procedural texts within culinary education, conducted at SMK N 5 Palembang during the 2023/2024 academic year. The research aimed to explore how cultural contexts influence language choices and instructional strategies in compiling traditional and contemporary recipe procedures. Qualitative methods, including observation, interviews, and documentation, were employed to gather data from ten students and educational stakeholders. Findings reveal significant challenges among students in understanding and effectively utilizing procedural text structures, emphasizing the importance of linguistic clarity, varied instructional approaches, and cultural sensitivity in educational interventions. Practical recommendations include enhancing instructional methods tailored to procedural text comprehension and composition in culinary contexts.
