Abstract

This study explored how the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools such as Grammarly, ChatGPT, and QuillBot can enhance the descriptive writing abilities of eleventh-grade students ability to write descriptive texts at SMA Negeri 3 Palembang. Descriptive writing often presents challenges for EFL students due to the demands of grammar accuracy, appropriate vocabulary, and text organization. A quantitative descriptive approach was employed through a One-Group Pre-test Post-test Design involving 39 students. They completed writing tasks before and after learning to utilize AI tools for grammar correction, vocabulary improvement, and writing structure. The analysis revealed a notable increase in their scores, from an average of 12.22 on the pre-test to 21.62 on the Post-test. Statistical testing using a paired sample t-Test confirmed this difference to be significant (p < 0.05). These results suggest that AI-assisted writing tools can effectively support students in producing clearer, more organized, and grammatically accurate descriptive texts in an EFL context..
