Abstract

The research aimed at assessing the use of Duolingo application and its effect on the writing skill of grade IX students’ at SMP Negeri 4 Rambutan daring the 2024-2025 academic year. The sample of this research consisted of 63. Class IX 3 as the control group consisted 32 students, while class IX 4, as the experimental group, consisted of 31 students. This research used a quantitative quasi-experimental method with data collection technique using a pre-test and post-test. The findings of this research indicated that the use of Duolingo application had positive effect on improving students' writing skill. Based on the result of the research, the difference in the average post-test score of the experimental group and the control group was 16.60, where the average score of the experimental group was 81.42 and the average score of the control group was 64.81. So it could be concluded that there was a significant difference in learning outcomes of class grade IX students of SMP Negeri 4 Rambutan who were taught using Duolingo application and students who were taught using Duolingo application.
