Abstract
This study aims to determine whether the use of flashcards can improve the mastery of English vocabulary of fifth grade students of State Elementary School 2 of Tekorejo or not. This study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experiment research design. This study used two sample: an experimental class that used flashcards during the learning process and a control class that used conventional methods. Data were collected through pre-test and post-test and analyzed using an independent t-test. The result of independent sample T-test that Sig. (2-tailed) 0.000 < 0.05. This indicates a significant difference between the learning outcomes of the experimental and control class. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of flashcards is significantly more effective in enhancing students’ vocabulary mastery compared to conventional teaching methods. This because the use of flashcards can make the classroom atmosphere more interactive and not boring, besides that students can also easily memorize English vocabulary with the help of flashcards.
