Abstract
ABSTRACT The study aimed to empowering students’ moral value through the development of Putri Sinar Bulan reading book. In this study, 30 students of the sixth-grade were chosen as the respondents through simple random sampling. This study applied research and development design. Two questionnaires and one reading story book were used to collect the data. For analyzed the data, the researcher provided the first questionnaire to the 6th-grade students of SD Negeri 1 Koba, Central Bangka Regency, to find out what they need in a storybook. The researcher designed the product according to the previously analyzed needs, specifically a book for her students. The designed product is a bilingual storybook in Indonesian and English, intended for elementary school students. The designed storybook is titled Putri Sinar Bulan, emphasizing the introduction of moral values. The researcher developed a product based on validation by experts, and students’ assessments of the product that had been designed and suggestions provided through questionnaires distributed. The result of the development of the product became the final result of the product in the form of a reading book developed in this research and development. Based on the analysis carried out, the form of developing a story book based on user needs was a Putri Sinar Bulan reading book used for the sixth students which contains entertainment and moral messages. In addition, it was also necessary for the introduction to local culture, a source of literature, improvement in reading interest, reading ability and English vocabularies. Furthermore, story book with interesting pictures and colors are needed by the students. Keywords: reading book, moral value, empowering students’, Putri Sinar Bulan
